L’art Du Nu

I’ve been shooting nudes since art school. Studying toward a BFA in photography with a minor in sculpture, I learned to meld both disciplines.
With a camera, I aim to capture the human form’s essence – the body at its most sculptural, most sensual … the greatest form of art.
I wanted to shoot a nude in black and white, lit with one light, against black cloth. A friend introduced me to a model, a mother in her 40s, who said she’d always wanted to be photographed nude. We got to work.
When I showed her the series, L’Art Du Nu, the model told me she saw beauty in the pictures that she’d never noticed. She saw herself, she said, in an entirely new light.
