Georgia O’Keeffe said it best: “Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small. We haven’t time – and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.”
I created the “Flowers” show as a benefit for Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, known as VOSH. The nonprofit brings eye care to needy residents in developing nations. Partnering with the World Health Organization, VOSH has pledged to eliminate preventable blindness by 2020. I also support the nonprofit Surgical Eye Expeditions International. How can I not? I make my living with my eyes.
O’Keefe, who captured flowers so exquisitely, lost her vision to irreversible degenerative eye disease.
